LEVC TX Electric Taxi Charging Cable

Most LEVC TX drivers need one cable: a Type 2 to Type 2 32A lead. Your taxi has a 22 kW onboard charger, but UK homes and most domestic supplies run on a single phase, and that caps any cable at 7.4 kW. The 32A lead pulls every watt of it. A 16A cable fits the same socket, but it stops at 3.7 kW and roughly doubles the time the cab spends plugged in.
That 22 kW figure is only reachable at a three phase charge point, using the 32A three phase cable. If your depot or garage has three phase power, that cable is a genuine upgrade. It takes a full charge from roughly four and three quarter hours down to about an hour and a half, which matters when you are turning the cab round between shifts. On a house supply it charges no faster than the standard 32A lead, so do not pay for it unless you have the power.
There are two taxi generations and the cable choice is the same for both. The 2018 to 2022 TX carries 31 kWh usable from a 33 kWh pack. The 2023 car onwards moved to 34.6 kWh, quoted at up to 78 miles of electric range. Both use Type 2 for AC and both have a CCS socket rated at 50 kW, and early cars could be specified with a CHAdeMO socket alongside it, which is rare.
Worth being plain about what the TX is. It is a range extender rather than a pure EV. The 1.5 litre petrol engine works only as a generator and never drives the wheels, so a flat battery never ends a shift. The cheap miles are still the charged ones, so plugging in overnight is what keeps the engine off during the day.

Which cable does the LEVC TX need?
The TX uses a Type 2 socket for AC charging, so a Type 2 to Type 2 lead is the one to order. Buy the 32A version. On the single phase supply in a UK home it delivers 7.4 kW, the quickest AC charge the cab will see there. A 16A lead fits but limits you to 3.7 kW.
Is the three phase cable worth it for a cab?
Only where you plug into genuine three phase power. The TX has a 22 kW onboard charger, so at a three phase point the 32A three phase cable refills 31 kWh in around an hour and a half rather than four and three quarter hours. At a house it draws 7.4 kW, exactly the same as the standard 32A lead.
How long does a full charge take?
From flat, the 2018 to 2022 TX takes about 4 hours 45 minutes at 7.4 kW using a 32A cable, or roughly 9 hours 30 minutes at 3.7 kW on a 16A one. A three pin lead needs around 15 hours 15 minutes, which makes it a standby option rather than something you use between shifts.
Does the 2023 TX charge any differently?
The pack grew from 31 kWh usable to 34.6 kWh, with electric range quoted up to 78 miles. The charging hardware did not change: Type 2 for AC, 7.4 kW on a single phase supply, 22 kW on three phase, plus CCS at 50 kW. A full 32A charge runs to about 5 hours 15 minutes instead of 4 hours 45.
Will this cable fit an LEVC VN5 van?
Yes. The VN5 shares the TX platform and the same Type 2 socket, with either the 31 kWh pack or the later 34.6 kWh one. The 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the correct buy. Higher trims carry the 22 kW charger, so a three phase lead only earns its keep at a three phase depot.
Should I buy 5m or 10m?
5m reaches when the cab noses straight into a wallbox on a driveway. Take 10m if you park on the street, reverse onto a rank, or share a charge post at a garage. Working cabs rarely stop in the same spot twice, so the extra five metres removes a daily irritation.
