Quick recommendation

Start with the badge, because the 3008 name now covers cars that charge and cars that cannot. The HYBRID4 300 and the HYBRID 225, built from 2019 and 2020, are plug-in hybrids sharing a 13.2 kWh battery and a Type 2 socket. The E-3008 launched in 2024 is the full electric car, with 73 kWh usable, and the 2025 Long Range holds 98 kWh. The 2025 Plug-in Hybrid 195 carries 21 kWh. The one that catches people out is the Hybrid 136 sold from 2023: it is a 48 volt mild hybrid with a 0.9 kWh battery, no charging port and nothing to plug into. PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel cars have no socket either.

For any E-3008, order the Type 2 to Type 2 32A cable. The car has an 11 kW onboard charger, but a British home runs on a single phase supply, so 7.4 kW is what the 32A lead actually delivers there. The 11 kW figure only appears at a three phase charge point, reached with the 32A three phase cable. The same 32A lead is right for the 2025 Plug-in Hybrid 195, where Peugeot offers a 7.4 kW charger as an option and does not publish the standard rating.

The older HYBRID4 300 and HYBRID 225 are a different case. They charge at 3.7 kW as standard, with 7.4 kW available as a factory option, so a 16A cable is enough for most of them. If you know yours has the faster charger, or you cannot tell, the 32A lead covers both fitments for very little extra. A 16A cable will never harm the car, it simply stops at 3.7 kW.

Length is the remaining choice. 5m is fine when a wallbox sits beside the parking space. 10m earns its money on a longer driveway, in a garage where the unit is on the far wall, or at a shared post you have to reach across a bay.

Which cable does the Peugeot 3008 need?

It depends which 3008 you own. The E-3008 and the 2025 Plug-in Hybrid 195 both want the 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, which delivers 7.4 kW at home. The 2019 to 2023 HYBRID4 300 and HYBRID 225 charge at 3.7 kW as standard, so a 16A lead is enough for those cars.

Does the 3008 Hybrid 136 take a cable?

No. The Hybrid 136, sold from 2023, is a 48 volt mild hybrid carrying a 0.9 kWh battery that the engine and the brakes keep topped up. There is no charging port anywhere on the car, so nothing will plug in. This is easily the most common mix up across the 3008 range.

Is 32A worth paying for over 16A?

On a 2019 to 2023 plug-in, only if yours carries the optional 7.4 kW charger. With the standard 3.7 kW unit both cables fill the 13.2 kWh battery in roughly 4 hours. With the faster charger the 32A lead cuts that to about 2 hours, and since it fits either car it is the safer purchase.

How long does the E-3008 take to charge?

The 73 kWh car needs about 11 hours 15 minutes from empty at 7.4 kW using a 32A cable. The 98 kWh Long Range takes roughly 15 hours. At a three phase charge point the car draws its full 11 kW, which brings those down to around 7 hours 30 minutes and 10 hours.

Can the E-3008 really charge at 11 kW?

Only where there is three phase power. The car has an 11 kW onboard charger, but British homes are single phase, so a domestic wallbox and a 32A cable give you 7.4 kW. The 32A three phase cable is what releases the full 11 kW at a workplace or public point wired for three phase.

What length cable should I buy?
