Porsche Taycan Charging Cable

The Porsche Taycan is the only car on this site with two AC charging ports, one in each front wing, and that single fact changes the length answer more than any specification does. Park either way round and a socket is on the near side. Every Taycan has an 11 kW three phase onboard charger as standard, and on a British house that becomes 7.4 kW, because a home supply carries one phase rather than three.
All of them use a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable. Porsche puts the DC socket on the right-hand side only, so the right wing takes both AC and rapid charging while the left is AC alone. Either will take the cable on this page.
Buy the 32A single phase lead for home use. There is a real case for the 32A three phase version as well, because the Taycan genuinely accepts 11 kW: on a 22 kW public AC post or a workplace with three phases, a Performance Battery Plus car comes down from 14 hours 45 minutes to 10 hours. Between roughly 2021 and 2023 Porsche also offered a 22 kW onboard charger as an option, and cars fitted with it will pull the full 22 kW on such a supply. Porsche's own technical data for the 2024 facelift lists only the 11 kW unit, so newer cars are almost certainly 11 kW.
The 16A cable has no place on a Taycan. It caps the car at 3.7 kW, and twenty five hours to fill a car built to cover ground quickly is not a serious proposition.
The 3-pin cable is the one nobody expects to need until they do. Porsche published the earlier packs only as 79.2 kWh and 93.4 kWh gross, so the 83.7 kWh usable figure above comes from third party measurement rather than Porsche. Winter and sustained speed both take their toll on the recovery figure.

What charging cable is right for a Porsche Taycan?
Order the 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 lead for home. A Porsche Taycan takes 11 kW three phase at most, which a British house converts to 7.4 kW, and that cable carries every watt of it. Add the three phase version only if you charge at a site with three genuine phases.
Why does a Taycan have two charging flaps?
Porsche fits an AC charging port in each front wing on the Taycan, so you can plug in from either side of the car. Only the right-hand port takes DC rapid charging, but both accept the Type 2 cable on this page, which is why cable length is rarely a problem on this car.
Did my Taycan come with the 22kW charger?
Only some did. Porsche introduced a 22 kW onboard charger as an option for model year 2021 and it was never standard, so a 2021 to 2023 Taycan may have either. Porsche's technical data for the 2024 facelift lists 11 kW alone. Check your build specification before buying a three phase cable on the strength of it.
How long does a Porsche Taycan take to charge at home?
About 14 hours 45 minutes from empty for a 97 kWh Performance Battery Plus car on a 32A cable, and 12 hours 30 minutes for the 82.3 kWh Performance Battery. Nobody arrives home empty in practice, and a seven hour overnight window returns roughly 220 miles.
What cable length suits a Porsche Taycan?
Both ports sit in the front wings of a 4.96 metre car, so 5m works whenever the wallbox is anywhere near the front of the parking space, on either side. The 10m earns its place if you park a long way forward, charge at the kerb, or want the same lead to reach a second car.
Is the 19.2kW figure on some Taycan listings correct?
Not for a UK Porsche Taycan. The 9.6 kW and 19.2 kW numbers come from Porsche's North American technical data and describe a 240 volt single phase supply that does not exist in Britain. A UK listing showing 19.2 kW has copied an American figure.
